Minnesota
Bar Leagues
|
Minnesota bar leagues started in
June of 2005 as the State
Legislature passed a law saying that
we can run Texas Hold'em events in
public venues because it is
determined to be a game of skill. They are hugely popular and can draw
upwards of 125-150 people each
night; more commonly, 50-75 players.
Some
bars choose to play 2 sessions in an
evening and some just one.
State law
dictates that only $200 in cash
and/or prizes can be given away in
any given day. Not bad for playing
for free!
There
are many different league promoters
out there and they all do a good
job. Some are state leagues and some
are national leagues and they all
offer different nightly and grand
prizes. Check out their websites to
learn more.
